Who we are

CAMTEC Power Supplies GmbH – German Power Electronics for Professional Machines

CAMTEC develops and manufactures switch mode power supplies (SMPS) and power assemblies for the automation sector, machine building and the electronics industry. Design, prototyping, SMD assembly, burn-in and final test all happen at our facility in Pfinztal near Karlsruhe – so the engineer who specifies a unit is the engineer who can change it.

The portfolio covers AC/DC power and DC/DC converters for DIN-rail, chassis mount, open frame and 19-inch rack mount installation, plus programmable DIN-rail supplies that replace bulky laboratory instruments in test automation cells.

  • Own fabrication in Germany, inspected regularly by the German TÜV
  • Production certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, built to CSA and UL requirements
  • CE, RoHS, REACH and European EuP Eco-Design Directive compliant
  • Long-term availability and documented revision control for OEM platforms

Ten Power Platforms for the Automation Powertrain

From a 10 W sensor supply to a 100 kW programmable rectifier: every CAMTEC family shares the same protection philosophy, diagnostic signalling and mechanical logic, which keeps engineering and spare-part handling simple across a whole machine fleet.

1-Phase · 10 W – 2000 W

AC/DC DIN-Rail Power Supplies

Wide-range single-phase input, high efficiency and generous power reserve for 24 V, 48 V and custom control voltages in cabinets with limited rail space.

View series
2PH & 3PH · 480 W – 1000 W

Three-Phase DIN-Rail Power Supplies

Balanced load on all phases, low ripple and stable hold-up for drive cabinets, conveyor lines and heavy-duty handling systems.

View series
Programmable · 480 W – 100 kW

Variable Programmable DC Power Supplies

Set-point control of voltage and current for end-of-line test, burn-in and laboratory-style automation – DIN-rail or cabinet mounted instead of a bench instrument.

View series
Scalable · 2 kW – 100 kW

Rack-Mount & Wall-Mount Power Supplies

Embedded, parallelable power stages for high-current DC systems; scale output by adding modules instead of redesigning the cabinet.

View series
DC-UPS · 480 W – 105 kW

DC-UPS, Chargers & Charging Rectifiers

Unbreakable DC architecture: buffer modules, temperature-compensated chargers and redundancy modules that keep PLCs alive through mains dips.

View series
450 – 820 V DC Input

DC/DC DIN-Rail Mini-Grid Converters

Step-down converters for DC mini-grid and micro-grid topologies where PV, storage and drives share one high-voltage DC backbone.

View series
3U 19-Inch · 80 W – 220 W

19-Inch Rack-Mount Power Supplies

Standard 3U subrack solutions for control rooms, test racks and telecom-style infrastructure with front-accessible status indication.

View series
ESB · 3.6 kW – 46 kW

AC Inrush Current Limiters

Controlled ramp-up of capacitive and transformer loads so upstream breakers and contactors stop nuisance-tripping at switch-on.

UMS · Wearless Switching

Electronic DC MosFET Relays

Semiconductor switching for DC loads: no arcing, no contact erosion, millions of cycles – ideal where mechanical relays become a maintenance item.

Why buyers specify CAMTEC

Engineering Depth, Not Just a Datasheet

Purchasing a power supply is a ten-year decision: it determines machine uptime, service cost and certification effort. These four points are what our OEM customers cite most often.

Certified Reliability

ISO 9001:2015 processes, TÜV-inspected FAB, UL and CSA compliant designs, 100 % electrical final test and documented burn-in for professional series.

Outstanding Electrical Data

High efficiency across the load curve, real power reserve, wide temperature operation and EMC margins that survive harsh industrial mains.

Custom & OEM Variants

Modified voltages, connector sets, coatings, labelling and firmware parameters – engineered and released by the same team that builds the standard range.

Global Support

A distributor and sales-partner network supports specification, local stock and after-sales service in Europe, North America and Asia.

Industries served

Designed for Environments Where Downtime Is Expensive

A CAMTEC switch mode power supply is dimensioned for pro-applications: infrastructure, railway systems, traffic control, energy and military-grade installations. These sectors share long service intervals, wide temperature windows and unforgiving mains conditions – exactly the conditions our derating and protection concepts are built around.

FAQ

Questions Purchasers and Design Engineers Ask Us

Every CAMTEC switch mode power supply is developed and assembled at our own fabrication site in Pfinztal near Karlsruhe, Germany. The factory is audited regularly by the German TÜV and works to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, keeping component sourcing, traceability and final testing under one roof.
Standard families are certified to UL and CSA requirements and carry the CE mark. They comply with RoHS, REACH and the European EuP Eco-Design Directive for energy-using products. Certificates and declarations are downloadable from the Certificates page.
Yes. Because engineering and production share one building, we deliver customised output voltages, connector layouts, coated PCBs, derating profiles and firmware set-points for programmable units. Modification projects are released after a joint specification review with our application engineers.
A DC-UPS buffers the 24 V DC control voltage and switches to battery within milliseconds when the mains fails, keeping PLCs and drives alive for a controlled shut-down. A charging rectifier is dimensioned for continuous, temperature-compensated charging of larger battery banks where autonomy is measured in hours. CAMTEC supplies both, plus redundancy modules.
Capacitor banks and transformers draw a very high inrush current at switch-on, which trips upstream breakers and stresses contactors. An ESB limiter ramps the charging current in a controlled way, so several machine sections can be powered from one breaker without nuisance tripping.
Each product page lists electrical specifications, mechanical drawings and manuals. For system-level questions – parallel operation, redundancy, derating at high ambient temperature or EMC filtering – contact our engineering team directly by phone or e-mail.
